Introduction to Les Salines de la Trinitat

Les Salines de la Trinitat, located in the heart of the Delta del Ebro, are an area of great ecological and landscape value. These salt pans, which have remained active over the centuries, offer a unique opportunity for you to connect with nature and learn about salt production, a process that has been vital to our community. Salt production has been, for generations, an integral part of the life of the people of La Ràpita, and their knowledge and dedication have allowed the salt pans to remain a key element of our local economy.

History of Salt Production

Salt production in the Delta del Ebro dates back to ancient times. The Romans already exploited the salt pans in the area, and over the centuries, this activity has remained alive. Salt, extracted through a process of evaporation of seawater, has been a valuable resource for food preservation and other uses. You can still learn about the traditional methods of salt production, and how it has been a source of pride for the local families, including those of La Ràpita, who have been involved in this activity for generations.
