What's inside

The 10 chapters of the guide

  1. 1

    The Delta in three minutes

The 10 things no one tells you before coming + basic glossary so you don't get lost in the Catalan signs.

  2. 2

    When to come

Month-by-month table with temperature, dominant wind, crowds, and prices. Optimal window by profile: birdwatcher, kiter, foodie, family, photographer, digital nomad.

  3. 3

    Where to sleep (honestly)

Comparison of the 5 zones in La Ràpita with real pros and cons. Apartment vs hotel vs campsite vs private Airbnb, no fluff.

  4. 4

    Gastronomy

8 restaurant data sheets with what to order and what NOT to order, closed days, whether to book. The 3 Delta rice varieties. How to tell good prawns from regular ones.

  5. 5

    Routes and nature

12 tested routes with GPS coordinates: 6 hiking (Trabucador, Encanyissada, Garxal, Montsià, Salines, Ullals), 3 biking, 3 kayaking. Real difficulty and «when NOT to go».

  6. 6

    Birds month by month

Calendar with which species to look for each month, where to find them and at what time. 5 observation points with detailed access. Minimum birdwatching kit.

  7. 7

    The wind rules

The 8 local winds (Mestral, Garbí, Llevant, Migjorn, Xaloc, Tramuntana, Gregal, Ponent) explained with their character and recommended beach for each.

  8. 8

    Festivals and cultural calendar

Sant Jaume Festes Majors day by day, Sant Joan, Fira del Llagostí, Quinquennals. What not to miss, what to skip, what to wear to the correfoc.

  9. 9

    30 local tricks

The free parking spot closest to the harbour, the best time to buy prawns directly from the fisherman, the best sunset spot with no one around.

  10. 10

    Emergencies and practical info

Useful numbers, how to get there, how to get around, connectivity, business hours. Plus local glossary: 50 words you'll only hear here.

Why this guide and not a free one

Written by a real local, not a copywriter who visited the Delta twice.

  • Concrete data, not «discover the magic of the Delta»

GPS coordinates, closed days, which dish to order at each restaurant, when the boats return, what to do with a 30 km/h Mestral.

  • Recommends what doesn't suit him

Restaurant sheets include «what NOT to order», the accommodation comparison includes competitors, the festival section says when NOT to go.

  • Evergreen but updated

A new edition every spring. Buyers of the previous edition get the update free at the email they bought with.

  • Joan Arbo López, author

Born in La Ràpita, with a family of fishermen and rice farmers in the building that today houses Lo Peix Apartments. Founder of Lo Peix and the Agentic Design Institute.

Who it's for

  • Foodie: you want real prawns, not tourist-restaurant ones
  • Prefers a local's advice over Tripadvisor's algorithm

Who it's NOT for

  • ×Looking for pretty photos and motivational quotes (this is dense text)
  • ×Want Instagrammable spots without context

About the author

Joan Arbo López — local rapitenc

I'm Joan Arbo López, founder of Lo Peix Apartments in La Ràpita. My mother's side (the López family — hence «Lo Peix» in local Rapitenc slang) has been here for generations: fishermen, rice farmers, neighbours in the same building for forty years.

I was born in La Ràpita, lived here until I was five, and have come back my whole life. Professionally I run the Agentic Design Institute and have been a UX Engineering Manager at Telefónica, Amazon and Western Union.

This project is the intersection of those two things: the knowledge of a small town and the rigour of a well-made product.

Frequently asked questions

Can I read it on my phone?
Yes. It's a standard A4 PDF that opens in any viewer (iOS Files, Google Drive, Adobe Reader, native Android reader). Tables are readable on mobile without zooming.
Are the restaurants and schedules from 2026?
Yes. Manually verified before this edition's publication. If anything changes during the year, I publish the change at /guia-premium-cambios and email it to you.
Do I get the next edition free?
Yes. Gumroad stores your purchase email and when I publish the 2027 edition (next spring) it arrives automatically.
Can I give it as a gift?
You can send them the purchase link so they buy it. The license is personal to the buyer — mass redistribution prohibited. Brief quotes allowed with attribution.
Does it work if I stay somewhere else, not at Lo Peix?
Completely. The guide stands on its own. I mention Lo Peix Apartments in a couple of places but always as one option among others, not as the centerpiece.
Are refunds available?
Gumroad allows refunds if the guide hasn't served you. If you download it, read it and think it's not worth €12, write to me and I'll refund without questions.
What language is the guide in?
Spanish, with local Catalan terms explained. The English, Catalan, German and French editions are in progress.
What file format is it?
A4 PDF, 30 pages, approximately 2 MB. No DRM, no print restrictions. Personal use license for the buyer.
